When you think of "Best Comedies of All-Time" you don't normally think of the year 1934...

Often, acceptable compromises can be made in life for something of a similar type or value---perhaps opting for a different brand of toothpaste or shopping in a new grocery store.  One thing is certain, a mother knows her own child, and she's not interested in an imitation, no matter how convincing.  Heaven help the person who tries to switch out one of Angelina Jolie's million children for an impostor.

54 years ago today, the movie world was changed forever....and not for the better. 

The horror genre has always struggled for credibility.  Rife with bloody excess and gratuitous violence, sex and nudity, the genre has justly earned it's B movie, sensationalistic reputation.   For every Exorcist there have been hundreds of Saw type movies.  For every Halloween, there is...well...Halloween II, III, IV, V, VI, VII and VIII.  Not to mention the deplorable Rob Zombie remakes. 

The Cubans are coming! Wait, there's a Nicaraguan! No, it's the Russians! Okay, so twenty-five years later, this idea seems really silly, but that doesn't take away from the awesomeness of this 80's classic.

This 1985 masterpiece set in pre-World War I Africa, stars Meryl Streep, who transforms into a coffee plantation-owning Danish baroness, and Robert Redford who transforms into Robert Redford.

It's hard to believe we are moving in on the 25th anniversary of The Brain, The Princess, The Jock, The Criminal and The Basket Case.
